Don't let anyone tell you that you never find anything anygood at a hamfest.
If you know me or have visited my web pages before you most likely know some of
the story about my Leutz Model L Super-het that I found sitting on a table in the fleamarket
of the 1993 Charlotte Hamfest.
Well the hamfest radio gods have smiled on me again because this past Saturday while riding around the Shelby hamfest with some of my friends I found another Super-Het.
This time it's a Norden-Houck
It was sitting on the ground below the tailgate of a pickup truck with a note taped to it saying "Call" and a phone number.
I almost dropped my cell phone because my hands were shaking so.
A quick call and a little haggling and a deal was made. The seller told me that the cab
of the truck was unlocked and that I should put the money under the floor mat on the drivers side. Whit my hands still shaking I was dropping hundred dollar bills all over the place while I tried to count out the exact amount.
By the time I got back to the golfcart one of the guys had picked up the radio and had it sitting on a seat.
When I got back to our fleamarket space I picked it up and carried past Robert and Steven grinning from ear to ear with pure gloating glee....
In the photos below you'll see that it's far from being a blue ribbon winner "yet".
It's very dirty, and missing some parts, including the cabinet.
But, it'll be a fun project cleaning it up and searching for the parts to rebuild it.
So far I spent a good bit of time searching my library and the
world-wide-web and have found little information on it.
With the exception of the small advertisiment to the right.
If you happen to have one of these in your collection I would
really appreciate some
good clear photos showing the inside and the front panel.
If you happen to have a junker or just some parts you might
know will fit
the empty spaces in this one I would really appreciate
hearing from you.
Any comments and or suggestions can be put in my
GuestBook at the bottom of this page or you can click on
the button and email me directly.
As I move along with this project I'll post updated photos.
